FREE PESTICIDE COLLECTION DAY SET FOR NOVEMBER 6, 2019
The NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ (NCDA&CS) Pesticide Disposal Assistance Program, a non-regulatory and cost-free program, in cooperation with the Wilkes County Cooperative Extension Service, will be sponsoring a Pesticide Collection Day for residents in Wilkes and surrounding counties. The local site manager will be Eli Snyder, Horticulture Extension Agent in Wilkes County. The collection will take place Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Wilkes Agricultural Center, 416 Executive Drive, Wilkesboro, NC.
Nearly all pesticide products will be accepted, including banned and out-dated pesticides. Participants are asked to save any portion of the label to help identify the material to be disposed of. Unknown materials cannot be accepted.
For liquid pesticide containers larger than 5 gallons or for unlabeled pesticides, please contact the Wilkes Extension Center for information before bringing to the collection event. No gas cylinders are accepted at the event; however, assistance information can be provided. Don't miss this opportunity in Wilkes County. For more information contact Eli Snyder at the Wilkes County Extension Center at (336) 651-7333.
