ASHE SERVICES FOR AGING Ashe Services for Aging, Inc. established in 1977, is a private non-profit agency which has been the primary provider of senior serives in Ashe County for nearly thirty years. Their agri-cultural project involves seniro participants in growing herbs, in association with the "earth quilt." Seniors then package the herbs (fresh and dried) to be sold at the local Farmer's Market or in the Senior and Adult Day Care Centers. Through this project, our senior citizens are given an opportunity to remain an active and integral part of our community. They also have the opportunity to imprt their knowledge and experience in growing and utilizing herbs to our younger generations. This would be an educational, as well as social experience, for visitors and participants. |

ZYDECO MOON FARM & CABINS
Zydeco Moon Farm and Cabins are located along beautiful Helton Creek in northern Ashe County. They will have two log cabins to rent beginning in September of 2006. The cabins are one bedroom with a loft and hot tub and look out over Helton Creek and the surrounding mountains. The property includes hiking trails and access to Helton Creek. Fishermen will appreciate the great access to the creek. During catch and keep season you can catch a few trout and grill them for dinner! There is one acre of land which produces organic vegetables including sugar snap peas, tomatoes, peppers, spinach and broccoli. There will also be raspberries and blueberries later in the season.
